Looking for a Chemical Engineers with minimum 5 years’ Operation and Maintenance experience for Wastewater Treatment plants primarily responsible for managing the biological and chemical processes that transform raw sewage into compliant effluent. Core Responsibilities Process Monitoring & Control: Oversee real-time plant performance through SCADA systems, adjusting parameters like flow rates, dissolved oxygen (DO), and mixed liquor suspended solids (MLSS) to maintain stable treatment conditions. Chemical Dosage Optimization: Regulate the dosing of treatment chemicals (e.g., alum, chlorine, or polymers) based on varying influent quality to ensure effective coagulation, flocculation, and disinfection. Laboratory Activities: Perform Laboratory analysis for influent and effluent samples for various parameters not limited to BOD, COD, TSS, pH etc. and handle and maintain / calibrate laboratory equiments / instruments. Water Quality Compliance: Review laboratory analysis results (e.g., TSS, BOD, COD, nitrogen, Ammonia, phosphorus etc) and take immediate corrective actions to ensure treated water meets stringent environmental discharge limits. Maintenance Support: To be able to ensure all chemical unit processes—including pH control, coagulation, Polymers dosing and disinfection—are optimized for safety and efficiency. Preventive & Predictive Maintenance: Collaborate with mechanical and electrical teams to schedule preventive maintenance for dosing pumps, chemical storage systems, and specialized treatment units like Disc filters (Chemical Cleaning). Reporting & Documentation: Maintain detailed operational logs, prepare daily, weekly and monthly performance reports, and update Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for chemical handling and process control. Adopt and follow company protocols and procedures in reporting matrix. Key Technical Areas Advanced Treatment Technologies: Operating and troubleshooting modern systems like Ultrafiltration (UF), Reverse Osmosis (RO), and Advanced Oxidation Processes (AOP). Sustainability & Energy: suggesting initiatives to reduce the plant's energy footprint and chemical consumption through analysis of data collected. Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) Overall plant compliance with regulatory discharge norms. Reduction in treatment cost per unit volume of wastewater. Optimization of chemical and energy consumption. Number and effectiveness of process improvement initiatives. Plant availability and reliability (% uptime). Audit performance and closure of non-conformities. Team productivity, training effectiveness, and operator competency. Incident reduction and safety performance metrics. Safety Performance (Zero LTI, Audit Scores) Reporting Structure Reports to: Plant Manager / Operations Manager Supervises: Junior Engineers, Operators, Shift In-Charges Works closely with: Maintenance, Laboratory, HSE, Utilities, and Production teams. Coordinates with Company Management, external agencies, vendors, and regulatory authorities as required. Qualifications & Skills Education: A bachelor’s degree in chemical engineering. Technical Skills: Proficiency in process simulation tools (e.g., BioWin, GPS-X,SUMO), data analytics, and SCADA/PLC interfaces. Safety & Compliance: Deep understanding of Process Hazard Analysis (PHA), lock-out/tag-out (LOTO), and hazardous chemical storage regulations. Typical Work Environment The role is highly active, involving daily plant inspections, laboratory coordination, and field troubleshooting in potentially hazardous environments. Show more Show less
